thanks for any help up front. I went to put the top down on my 41 super deluxe convertible last weekend and the driver side was not moving. I was able to disconnect it and lower it manually. The passenger side motor works fine. It looks like the motor died from my trouble shooting. I was looking for a source for a replacement motor. The car has the screw type acuators no the hydraulic or vacuum. I have only had the car a few months so i am still learning about the different resources. I searched C&G, dennis carpenter, and Mac's online without much luck. I am in Connecticut if there is any local sources. thanks again

I doubt that you will find a new motor for your top. I recommend that you find a local electric motor repair facility to repair your motor. I did a Google search and found this outfit in Hartford: http://remisi.com/ If you are a member of the V-8 Club, contact Ray Beebe in New York and ask his advice on a repair facility. If you go this route, I would pull the other motor and have it checked out at the same time. Tom

Thanks for the help. I was thinking to rebuild or replace both motors to help combat the potential for different speed trying to twist the top.

There is a fine article in the latest V8 TIMES outlining how a '41 was refitted with hydraulic cylinders to replace the jack screws. I use the same motor/pump from Hydro-E-Lectric. The only problem was the switch supplied wasn't heavy enough to carry load. so I built a relay power box. The jackscrews were a constant problem, and the hydraulic system was adopted in '42. The problem returned when the hardtop convertible arrived. It use a number of screws, and was a bear to get to work.
