Topic: What type rings to use

I’ve got a question about rings. If you had a choice between using original NOS ford rings and Hastings rings in a 21 stud 3 ring engine, which would you pick. It’s the oil ring that I’m concern about. Maybe the newer technology with the Hastings rings would work better. Than again, maybe the original ford design would.

Either should be OK. We haven't see any visible difference in brands of cast iron rings. If the cylinders are correctly honed so a "crosshatch" pattern is produced, the rings should seat well. Just don't use synthetic oil, at least during the breakin period.
