I have a 1940 2 door sedan my dad owned with a badge attached to the front bumper that says "Dearborn Award Winner" with the "Early Ford V8 Club of America" script surrounding it. Is there any significance to this? How might this vehicle come to get this badge? Thanks.

You dad was a member of the Early Ford V-8 Club and he took his 40 to a National Meet after it was restored. He entered the car in the concourse and it was judged by a team of judges. In order to get the Dearborn Award the car must score at least 950 points out of 1000 possible points. The Dearborn is the highest award in the Early Ford V-8 Club' judging system. You obviously have a very nice vehicle and it should be maintained to keep it as nice and original as possible.

Thank you very much, it appears to be original looking so I'll continue to keep it that way.

If you can find one of your Dad's old V-8 Club Rosters. the judging awards are discussed in the front pages of the book.

The Dearborn badge is awarded with the second Dearborn award. If your Dad's car received 3 Dearborn Awards, it would be an Dearborn Emeritus car and would be welcomed at any National Meet.
