There are several differences between the frames of open and closed cars. One is the "X" frame at the center. There are several brackets, below the edges of the cowl, and below the stiffener at the rear edge of the door. I'm not aware of any illustrations. These are necessary to compensate for the lack of a roof to stiffen the body. Even so, raising the body on a hoist usually causes the doors to pop open. A closed body can be mounted on an open frame, but not vice versa. Most Ford open cars were produced by specialty firms.
