I'm going to put a timing light on the 8BA in my '53 today. The only mark I see on the crankshaft pulley is a 'bump' casting mark on the pulley. Is it that I adjust the distributor so that this mark aligns with the pointer? VanPlet's web site says the timing should be 2 degrees before top dead center. Will aligning the pointer with the "bump" on the pulley give me the correct timing?

Yes. That bump is 2 degrees.
