Topic: 48 tudor windshield

I am replacing the windshield in my 48 sedan, and I was wanting some input on wheather or not I need a sealer (seam sealer or equivelent) or if I should install dry, without sealer.

We install windshield with plenty of liquid soap in and around the gasket, but no sealer. The correct seal should lie flat against the metal. If the corners are puckering, it is the wrong one. I found that out the hard way. Some prefer to put sealer, such as the 3M weather strip cement under and around the top and sides of the gasket on the outside by pulling back the rubber. If you do, be sure to mask off the paint around the gasket, as the sealer bubbles out as the gasket is replaced, and is tough to remove from paint. Most of us seldom drive in rain, if we can avoid it, anyway.

I installed my windshield with just the soap as suggested but noticed after a while water seeping through the gasket at the low corners where it puddled so I then injected some windshield sealant into the space in the gasket around the glass and stopped it.

P.S. Some of us do, indeed, drive our cars in the rain, snow, sleet, hail and everything. Here's my drive in the snow just yesterday: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VONZdWVH6A4 and photo of "Old Henry" after the trip.
