Are you running a stock 36 fan, or the one from the 8BA? A noisy fan can result from spinning it too fast with a smaller than stock pulley. The stock fan is 15.68" from tip to tip. The '36 trucks used a 17 or 19 inch fan. They were sometimes added in the hope of reducing cooling problems with cars. Also, carefully check the fan for cracks in the blades or hub. This kind of damage can increase fan noise, and is a warning that a loose blade can cause lots of damage to the radiator, hood and distributor. A fan clutch could be tricky to install, as the fan needs to be very close to the face of the radiator to be efficient.

  I had the same problem,
I installed a highspeed rear end 354 gears,.
that slowed the fan and gained a few miles to the gallon, a win win,
I also used a plastic 6 blade fan, I had a hub adapter made from the org gen to a plastic fan,
this also worked till I broke the fan by mistake, when I installed new water pumps.
now it is still less noisy with the rear ratio ,slowing the engine down,
I never saw a clutch fan on a early FORD V8,
my 3 cents worth 37RAGOPMAN
