Can anyone tell me the difference in size for a 1939 vs a 1941 Ford split bench seat? ***And if anyone knows - if a 39 bench is fit in a 41 - is it too small in side to side width? If I use the 39 bench - it will be upholstered with custom high grade vinyl per the style my Grandpa did after the war,My only concern is that I do want the bench seat to look like it fits the cars interior ( and not look too small ) Thanks, John

I don't know the width of the 1939 Ford seat but the 1941 Ford seat is 55 inches wide. You have to remember that the 1941 Ford is a longer and wider car than the 1939-40 Ford car. This helped to increase the interior size of the 1941 Ford. NO the 1939 Ford seat will not fit in a 1941 Ford.

The 39 seats are at least 4 inches narrower than the 41 and the mounting brackets are completely different. I agree that it would not look correct in a 41 Tudor. I don't have the seat width, but the seating area on a 39 is 50" and a 41 is 55". This is measured across the body at the arm rest height. Tom

The 46-48 is the same seat. You can use the seat from a sedan coupe or a tudor sedan.

Hi John, I have a very nice front seat that may fill your needs. It still has the tag attached to the spring, and after checking on the forum about a year ago, I learned it was Part o1A (from a 1940 car), the covering was C2 (mohair) and the '70' on the tag means 2 door sedan or business coupe. It is now covered in naugahyde and the springs are in good condition. Have the base as adjustment lever as well. Price is $100 + shipping (located in WI) If you are interested, call me at 941 485 5131 (FL). Jim

The 40 Ford seat is the same size as the 39, at least 4" narrower than the 41-48 seat. Tom

Jim - Sounds like your bench is for a 1940 - I need a 41 model split bench - please correct me if I am incorrect in the model year of your bench. Thxs John
