Not wanting to EVER cut any of Henry's original sheet metal I came up with a different way to make a rumble seat for my 36 trunk model coupe. I got lucky and found a fiberglass deck lid which is much lighter than the original. I put a set of hinges on the glass lid and put hitch pins on the clevis's that hold them to the body. Pull the clevis's and you can lift the lid off. I made a 2 piece seat and back rest that can be dropped in and lifted out. 1/4" plywood, foam and some vinyl cover material. 2 hooks that fit into the bottom drip rail and a spacer from the seat back that hits the spare tire. Now I can have a rumble or a trunk. Only problem is that if it rains I've got no cover for the opening. I think I'll make a folding plastic filler that will fit behind the front seats...just in case.
