To adjust the third brush, remove the generator band and move the brush up or down to get the desired output. If you drive at night, adjust with the headlights on. If you mostly drive in daylight, leave the headlights off. Place a voltmeter across the battery terminals, and with the engine running fast enough to close the cutout on the generator, move the brush until you obtain abot 7.5 volts. Don't worry about amperage. Voltage testing is easier without the special equipment needed to test high currents.
