Should original equipment on my 49 flathead be an A circuit or a B circuit generator? Anyway to tell other than the testing procedure?

Ford generators are "B circuit". The field is grounded inside the generator. A "B circuit" generator will produce full voltage when the field and armature are tied together. An "A circuit" generator will produce full voltage when the field is grounded. Tom
