The holes in my original 36 square plate spindles don't line up with the hydraulic backing plates (I believe they are 1940). I have the adapter kit consisting of the spacer ring and race. just did this conversion to a 35, best way is to use 37 up spindles.

The '37 and later spindles are the best choice when converting to hydraulic brakes on a '35-36 Ford. Actually the '40-41's work best because they don't have the mechanical brake knobs on top of the king pins. I would suggest that you don't use the '39-41 style of brakes.. Use the '42-48 brakes, they are much better brakes. If you want to keep your stock '36 wheels use '37-39 drums, they will bolt right up on the later model spindles and rear hubs.
