i put a new spedo cable in my 51 ford in early spring and has worked great till the other day when the mileage was about to rollover from 44999 to 45000 the mileage indicator stopped. the mph needle indicator still works just fine but the miles indicator will not move. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks. Tom

That is usually a sign that the odometer has either frozen, or one of the tabs has broken. It is a job for a specialist. We use Bob's Speedometer in Michigan, but there are others. We prefer them because they will give you a reliable estimate before proceeding.

tom, Bob (Super) has it right, and Bob's Speedo can fix it (no relation). Speedo grease cooks dry and hard over the years, and must be washed out and re-lubed. It can get hard as a rock, and will bust a gear or cog. The 4th and 5th digits in your speedo having rolled over less frequently, there's where your problem is. Alan
