Hi I'm new here. I've recently acquire a 40 delux sedan. It has been in the family for a long time, stored in a barn. Unfortunately a key is nowhere to be found. I won't be able to do much with it for a while, I'd like to put it away in my shed. I need to be able to turn the steering wheel in order to get it into the shed. I've seen a couple of posts describing drilling a pin and pulling the cylinder. If I could get more detailed information about exactly where to drill that would be great. A local locksmith suggested that I pull a lock cylinder from a door and bring it to him. He thought he could make a key from that. Is the door key the same as the ignition? thanks

According to the 1940 Ford owners manual on page 9, it shows the ignition key and the door key as being the same key. Bruce
