i have a 40 ford with typical oil pressure it seems, on the low side. in the past there was a discussion on the oil relief valve under the intake manifold, what is the thickness of the shim to be used. and is there a danger of too much shim to starve the cam gears. gene

The oil pressure relief valve is controlled by a spring, either a 50lb or an 80lb spring and plunger. Check your oil pressure with a mechanical gauge. Normal pressure for a 40 ranges between 5lb and 50lb. Tom
