I read the restoration manual and it says the hood hinges are painted black. I have photos of a restored award winning convertible and the part of the hinge that bolts to the cowl was body color along with the two riveted links and the two piece spring links and spring that holds the hood up are black. Which is correct? Thanks in advance for the replies.

These are 46 photos but may help. Upper hinge clearly black in the second photo. Lower hinge appears to be body color in the first photo and in the second photo also. This message was edited by 1942deluxe on 10-2-26 @ 4:37 PM

In this assembly line photo of a 47 6 cylinder car both upper and lower hinges appear black.

James, for clarity, there were hood hinges and hood supports. The hinges fasten to the cowl sides. The supports have integral springs. The hinges were attached to the hood prior to painting so should be body color along with their respective fasteners. The supports are gloss black irrespective of body color. Mike "Kube" Kubarth

Here is another assembly line photo that illustrates what Mike stated in his post.
