I've got an 8BA that needs new valve seats and bored. Any machine shop reccommendations? KC area or midwest? Thanks in advance!

Have the block pressure checked and Magna-fluxed for cracks BEFORE you have any machine work done. look at the deck surface, and the pan rails particularly. Check the cam bearings. Some 8BA blocks were fitted with cam bearing that are oversize on the OD. Replacements are impossible to find. Look at the head surface. If the machined piston relief circle is less than 3" in diameter the heads may have been milled too much and will have valve clearance problems. If it is OK, have it acid dipped to remove any paint and rust. Next spend a half hour at the local car wash pressure washing everything inside and out. You can't get them too clean. Pick a shop with some experience with flatheads and hold them to a completion time and price.
