Topic: 1947 coupe trunk lid detail

I have my trunk lid underside restored. I installed the reproduction sound deadening material in the sub frame openings. There are four openings at the lower edge of the trunk lid. Can sound deadening material be seen in these openings? My car had the material missing. These openings will be much more difficult to install the sound deadening material. Thanks in advance for the response.

There was sound deadener in the lower portions of the trunk lid. There was a combination of round and oval holes in the lower portion. The sound deadener was black from the factory.

There was an entire "sheet" of insulation inserted between the inner and outer sh*lls prior to those pieces being joined. Thus, anywhere you are able to view the "inside" of the lid, the insulation should be present.

And yes, the insulation was black when installed. However, the trunk lid was painted as an assembly so that paper did get paint on it.
