Topic: 1947 Coupe Assembly

I am doing a frame on restoration on my 47. I am looking for the process to reassemble the doghouse. I found pictures online where the entire front was assembled on the chassis before the body was dropped on the frame. Since my body is on, I can’t do that. My thought is to mount the inner fenders to the radiator support first then hang the outer fenders next followed by mounting the grill. Any input or suggestions would be appreciated.

Your procedure should work OK. Leave the fender and grill bolts loose until you have the hood mounted and aligned, the align the fenders and grill to the hood.

Here is a link to a post on aligning the hood. It refers to a V-8 Times article in the May/June 2009 issue. That article is available on the V-8 Times USB drive that can be purchased from the ONLINE STORE.
