About to finish my wood tool covers early 47 Mercury convertible. Long time since I have seen an original. Were they body colour? I can find no references to them anywhere. Thanks Selwyn

Check to see what the Fords had on them for a finish or sealer. Would be the same as the Ford

They were dipped in a mix of leftover paint. Nothing fancy at all. Ultimately the finish was a semi dull black. Those of us that do full restorations tend to apply two to three coats of Minwax Ebony stain. Mike "Kube" Kubarth
