I recently bought an excellent 40 deluxe convertible coupe. The only thing wrong is that a previous owner replaced the top and cover but didn’t install the anchor snaps. On line photos show anything from 9 to 17, the only thing in common is the odd number and centered in the rear window. Does anyone know thw factory number and spacing? I plan on entering the car in concours competition and want it to be correct. SamK

Beautiful car, Sam! My 40 has a hard top and 4 doors, so I wouldn't be much help to you with the convertible top. Somebody should be able to answer your question, though. Good luck with your shows. Tom

Sam, anchor snaps? Are you referring to the male snaps that are for the top boot? If so, there are nine. Good luck on finding the correct snaps to pass judging. The correct snaps are two piece. The screw is slotted (brass) and has a stainless body crimped over it. If you're serious about having the car judged, I'll work with you step by step as you may desire. Send me a private message if you like. Already I see you have '41 bumper tips on the car. That's a standard deduction of eight points (two each).
