The person I bought my 1937 Fordor Model 78 from had installed a new gas tank and an electric fuel pump. I want to convert it back to the mechanical pump so I purchased a rebuilt pump with a glass bowl that is supposed to fit my car. As you can see from the attached photo it looks like I would have to cut back some of the spark plug wire metal shield in order for it to fit. Is there a different spark plug wire metal shield that is used with the glass bowl??

What you need to do is get the proper mechanical fuel pump for your engine. The original pump (without glass bowl) had part number 11A-9350. Obsolete Classic Auto Parts offers a replacement for the original pump, part number V09-15560. This pump should fit your application. https://ford.obsoleteandclassicautoparts.com/catalog/early-ford-v8?qad=448Y161MP2398242NOTuVDB9u7h243XN4H8so8X74lE21Kwex1l6p4I16#page/87

The 1937 fuel pump did not have the glass sediment bowl. Try to find a replacement pump for a 1937-1946 Ford. similar to this one: https://thirdgenauto.com/product/1941-46-ford-rebuilt-original-fuel-pump-assembly/ Tom
