During a start up after a few years of sitting, my 35 has a backfire and popped open the muffler. I am in the process of welding and tacking to tighten it up. OTOH, I have been looking for a full replacement only to find that I can't find one in any of the "normal" Ford V8 parts shops.. IS anyone aware of where I might find a replacement, or if I could retrofit some other muffler to fit my 35... Thanks

You might want to look at the mufflers available from Summit Racing. While none of the mufflers is a direct replacement for your 1935 Ford, you might be able to adapt one of the available Walker mufflers to fit your vehicle. The Ford replacement muffler for your car has part number 48-5230-B. https://www.summitracing.com/search/part-type/mufflers?N=brand%3Awalker-exhaust&SortBy=Default&SortOrder=Ascending&keyword=muffler&kr=muffler
