my ‘40 has a lot of slack in the steering. Everything is new ie; king pins, tie rod ends, ball joints etc. tires have approx 250 miles but are 5 years old. Firestone ..my ‘36 steering box was pretty simple …..lock nut turn screw. The ‘40 box has two nuts, one with a star design looking washer under it. And nothing under the other one. No adjusting screw that I see. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Make sure your front wheel bearings are properly adjusted. There should be no play in the bearings.

The adjustment screw is the shaft with the star washer under it. It moves the sector up and down. The other is the cover to install gear lube. If your sector is only worn in the forward position, the adjustment won't work as turning the wheel will close the gap. This message was edited by juergen on 1-9-26 @ 8:16 AM
