We have a 1937 tudor slantback. It still retains its stock, 21 stud engine, but there is a LOT of valve noise as of late. This winter, I intend to pull the engine for a clutch & oil pan change along with a fresh coat of "Ford Green" paint. This presents an opportunity to change the camshaft and tappets. I would like to keep the car as stock as possible, but I cannot find a stock camshaft for this thing. Is there an after market camshaft out there that is close to stock? Or better yet, does anyone know where to find a stock camshaft? I did a forum search, and it didn't return any matches on this topic. Any help would be appreciated.

I don't know where you could find a NOS camshaft. Any camshaft from 1937-1948 will fit your engine. If you can't find a good stock camshaft, you can use the Isky Max 3/4 race grind to replace your worn camshaft. It has less low end performance than a stock cam, but unless you drag race, you probably will not be disappointed with the performance. It will affect your idle, you will have a slight lope to it and less vacuum at idle. There are more performance builders on the Ford Barn than here, so you may want to check over there for camshaft recommendations. Tom
