Can someone post a pic on wiring diagram on the 85 hp flathead engine. On my starter selenoid the left terminal sys battery. From that terminal the battery type cable is going to the starter. Is that correct? Still have 6v system. Thank you for any help.

You can find the wiring diagrams on Mac Van Pelt’s website, I think it is vanpeltsales.com, or at least tell us what year car you have as the wiring diagrams changed almost every year.

"On my starter selenoid the left terminal sys battery. From that terminal the battery type cable is going to the starter. Is that correct?"

No, not correct. The terminal that says battery should receive the big cable from the battery, but not the cable to the starter.

A battery type cable goes to the starter from the terminal on the other side of the solenoid.

BTW, you won't find this level of detail on an electrical schematic. A schematic would just show these two big cables as two lines terminating at the solenoid.

A better understanding of the system is easier than an instruction of which cable goes where: The cable from the battery goes to the solenoid, where a secondary wire continues on to the starter switch. The starter switch is thus enabled to activate the solenoid, which itself is the heavy duty switch to activate the cable going to the starter.
It's important to understand that not all solenoids are created equal, and a Ford's solenoid is unique to Ford products.

Here is a link to the drawing for your wiring. http://vanpeltsales.com/FH_web/FH_images/FH_electrical-pics/Flathead_Electrical_wirediagram1937car.jpg

Wiring for the solenoid is starting from the driver's side of the car:
Battery cable and main battery feed to the rest of the car (Has 6volts when battery is installed)
Center terminal has the starter button wire (Has 6volts when battery until starter button completes the ground)
Passenger side terminal is for the starter motor (Has 6volts when starter button is depressed and the solenoid picks)

Tom, passenger side terminal on selonoid says battery. Im confused. Are you saying that cable should go to srarter motor? Thats the way mine was hooked up but everyone else says different.
