my 36 is running on 4 cylinders. 1,4,5 and 6 get no spark I'm thinking its the rotor perhaps. when i got the car it came with these extra parts. Is there any difference between the distributor plates besides the color. I havent removed the one on the car yet but thought I would swap these parts in after I assemble this distributor and see what I get. Thanks for any input/suggestions.

The color shouldn't make any difference but be sure you have the correct Plates for your distributor. There are two different kinds. One for 1932 to 1936 Fords and another one for 1937 to 1941 Fords. You need to have the correct plates for the distributor you are using.

Hard to see a close up of the inner caps but they appear to be the 36 style but don't know what the tan marks are on the caps?. Make sure to change the rotor and try rotating the distributor by hand before installing so there is no interference. The cam on the engine has an off-set slot for the distributor tab be careful to insert the tab properly upon reassembly.

so i pull the distributor and found both sets of points were barely opening [.002] looks like the phenolic that contacts the points cam was very worn and the caps were pretty shot also..now with the other distributor in points set proper and a dab of dielectric grease on the cam shes hitting on all 8 and "happy days are here again"
thanx for replies
