The spring broke on my throttle cable. How do I disassemble the linkage to get the new one on? do they "pull apart" at the ball joints? I don't want to break it.

The end caps on the linkage rods are spring loaded to secure them on the ball ends. Just push them toward the end, against the spring tension, and you should be able to disconnect the linkage. You should be able to remove them with your hands.

Thanks, worked perfectly and now that its off its easy to see. Just didn't want to force it until I was sure. any tips on getting the spring on without taking the arm off the firewall? if I slip it over the bend, it needs to have an extra rotation. fire wall keeps it from doing it without bending the arm. not sure how to rotate the spring with tension before sliding it down over the bend.

I'd replaced a number of these but never with the linkage on the car. I get the spring on the linkage, but not under pressure. Once the linkage has been installed to the car, I place a piece of string over the end of the spring and pull it into position. Mike "Kube" Kubarth
