Topic: Voltage regulator lettering

I have 2 different early voltage regulators . On just has the 3 wire connector lettering. The other one has additional lettering say Ford Mercury Lincoln Zepher plus labels wire color codes. What years are each of them for?

The 40 cover had just the Arm, Field and Bat embossed. I am not sure when the additional embossing was added but it was later.

The covers with all the additional verbiage were later service replacement parts.

Would be good to see a picture to better understand the question. Here are pics. of the reg. in my '46 Coupe. It shows only three connecting points, but also has a ground wire that goes to the generator.

  51woodie,
It appears you have an "old" cover installed on a more modern regulator. The cover itself would pass judging for a '40 Ford if it were cadmium or terne plated.

Below is the 1940 voltage regulator that was questioned above.

Kubes. No question you are right, and I appreciate your knowledge. That reg. was on the car when I bought it many years ago, and works well. I had hoped the pics would be helpful to the OP. I know I’d lose points because of it, but living in Northern Ontario doesn’t lend to attending judged shows. However when our Club does the summer tours of the area Senior’s homes, I get an easy 1000 points. I know it is not supposed to have WWWs either, but they look good.
