Why would a 59A engine have more than 1 type of exhaust manifolds? I am restoring to Period Correct & discovered there are different types both left & right..... Thanks.

According to the "Green Bible" there are two exhaust manifolds for the 1947 V-8 engine: For the R.H. side - 21A-9430 For the L.H. side - 21A-9431 One reason two different manifolds are required is the bolt patterns of the center exhaust ports of the block differ.
