I'm replacing the dash harness in my 36 coupe as well as converting to 12 V negative ground. My question is how does one run the new wire through the Amp gauge? It seems to have a closed loop behind the gauge. And, do I have to run it in the opposite direction since I am changing the polarity? Thanks!

Yes, that is exactly what you have to do. Simply reverse the loop of wire on the back of your amp gauge.
