Do any club members have insight on the preferred choice of U joints to use in an Early Ford Flat Head? Is a newly Manufactured U Joint Preferable to one restored with a Universal Joint Repair kit Part # B- 7084, if the casting of the B-7090 original U joint is not distorted from previously deteriorated bushings? Is a synchronizer ball and spring set Part # 81A-7109S originally used on a 40 to 48 Ford Transmission, preferable to the new style Synchronizer Hardware 51A-7109-S which has 3 rectangular clips and 2 semi-circle springed wire retention clips? Doe the Lincoln U joint Part # HB-7090with roller bearings have the same dimensions and spline configuration as the Ford 28 to 48 U joint? Is it of better quality? Thank you in advance

I wouldn’t bother with rebuilding a u joint. Just buy an NOS unit and you know what your getting is good to go and will last a lifetime if you lube it correctly. Alan

I agree with Alan. IF you can find a NOS assembly or even an early NORS, go with that. Mike Driskell rebuilds these units, and I would trust him with one of his assemblies. I have heard numerous negative reports of the Drake reproduction unit. Enough so, that I'd not consider using one. Mike "Kube" Kubarth
