Topic: Want to replace '41 side mirrors

My recent '41 Ford Convertible side mirrors are totally useless unless I am with a passenger. I would like to obtain a length of the standard trim apparently used through 1948 in order to cut and fab two pieces to fit in place of the existing mirrors. I would then screw in an aftermarket mirror up and back somewhat on the doors. Is this a feasible solution ? Has anybody done anything like this? While I can see well enough with the existing mirror on the drivers side , with the Carson style top I get rather anxious trying to drive with such a large blind spot on the passenger side. If this will work does anybody have a usable strip of the trim?

Those side mirrors are definitely to look at not to look through. I would leave the stock mirrors in place and add peep mirrors if it were a sedan, but with a convertible, you might fab a bracket for the A pillar. Another idea would be a rear facing video camera mounted on the original mirror face.

Thanks for the suggestions. I especially liked the idea of a video camera . Being a bit out of the tech loop I am going to research this. Will keep you informed
