On a 59AB with the water pumps installed, can the timing cover be removed without dropping the pan? Has original 2 piece rope seals. If I decide to go with a one piece front seat, how is it held in place by the timing cover/ oil pan? Seems like the grove where the rope is is much wider than the one piece seal.

You may remove and install the timing gear cover without the need to remove the pumps nor drop the oil pan. Not certain about the one-piece seal. Never found the need for one. Properly installed, the authentic rope two-piece seals do a magnificent job. Mike "Kube" Kubarth
