Stock 46 coupe died suddenly about 1 mile from home. No jumping or sputtering, engine just quietly stopped running. Buddy came with Honda and jumper cables.
Followed instructions for jump[ing from 12 volt car - one cable to good ground on my car, just touch starter side of solenoid
with the other.

No start, and cables got hot with just the touching. Towed home, and no start since them.
Added 5 gal of gas just to be sure.

Compression is fine, plenty of fuel at carb, but spark is very weak.

Charged battery overnight.
Thinking I fried something, I installed a spare coil, and new condenser.
Voltage at coil - exactly 4. Voltage at Batt connection at Alternator - 6 volts.

Even tried aq shot of winter use "starting fluid" which normally results in a fast albeit short lived start.
Not even a cough.

Would welcome any suggestions.

If the engine won't even try to start with starter fluid, the spark plugs may be totally fouled. The fiber camshaft driven gear may have broken.

Charging cables got hot? Your car is positive ground. Modern cars are negative ground. Your buddy with the Honda got it wrong.
