Topic: 1936 Ford Tudor Header Panel/Wiper Grommets

Bobbys36    -- 11-22-2022 @ 6:17 AM
I've searched the forum but can't find anything related to this. Does anybody know a source for the metal (presumably nickel plated) grommets that attach to the header panel where the vacuum windshield wiper controls come through and that hold the fabric in place around the holes? I don't see these listed by any of the parts suppliers I've looked at. If there is no source for authentic grommets, what do others use here, maybe something like canvas eyelets?

I used canvas eyelets on my 37. It looks decent.

I think Third Gen Auto in Tenn. Has the grommets.

1937sedandelivery, thanks for the reply. It's good to know that others have been down this path before and have used canvas eyelets successfully. The canvas eyelets are not authentic but appear to have an advantage over the original style grommets. The original grommets have a smaller inside diameter which seem to require more precise alignment to allow the wiper controls to pass through. The canvas eyelets have a larger inside diameter and would seem to be more forgiving.

40 Coupe, thanks for the suggestion. I checked Third Gen's website but did not see any listed. If anybody had them I figured it would be them. I may need to call them to double check.
