Hello All, #2 in the attached picture is the cigarette lighter. That much I know! #1 is a power on/power off switch that is toggled by pulling out and pushing in. I'm not sure what it ever controlled, and I can't trace the wires because they were removed long ago. Does anyone have a '36 dash in the same configuration? If so, what does this switch control? Thank You! John

Yes, it controls the dash lights. However, very few of those switches actually work. I took mine apart, carefully, cleaned it. It worked a few times. I bought a new, old, expensive one that worked a few times, til it quit. Your wires were cut and wired together to make the dash lights work.

Yes, I did the same thing as Steve, took mine apart and tried to repair it. Switch worked some what, but flickered on and off. I connected the wires together under the dash. Driving after dark, theres no need to be turning dash lights off anyway.
