On a 1938 Ford Coupe, and I'm sure other models...., what is the little red light on the left side of the dash just above the just starter button?

My guess is high beam indicator. That is where the one was on my '39 p/u. Not sure of the color mine was since it was replaced with a blue unit when I rewired and converted to 12 volts.

51504 is correct. It's the hi-beam (on) indicator lamp jewel.

  Ok Thanks guys!
I just picked up a '38 Coupe Street Rod & the builder put a little red electronic reset button for the trip meter. I just figured it was added until I saw a few pictures of stock '38 Coupe dashboards and was surprised to see something similar looking & apparently OEM in that location.
The builder did a pretty good job keeping the interior looking relatively stock.

Yes. And the high beam indicator light is now a LED within that electronic instrument display.

Lots of programing can be done with those electronic instruments, using that momentary contact button to scroll thru the menu(s). For instance, the microprocessor has to be trained to count the pulses from the speed sender so your speedometer reads correctly. The programing is very confusing for the average guy. Hope the builder sent the instructions for the gauge package with the car.
