Topic: 53 Ford ustomline trim rings

I have recently acquired a 53 Club Coupe and am registered for 2022 Eastern Meet. I showed my 53 in an AACA Meet in 9/21 and received a 1st Junior but was deducted for hub caps/wheel covers. I am certain that my hub caps are correct but not sure if I have correct trim rings; mine have 2 steps (waves). Are these correct or should they be smooth?

Do you have the 1952-1953 Ford book from the V-8 club? If you don't have the book you should have it due to being a new owner of a '53 Ford. It can be ordered from this site in left menu. If you already have the book look at Page 7-15 which shows the various wheel covers. The book will be a great help to you if you plan to show the car at the Eastern Meet. AACA judging can be different from the judging at an Early Ford V-8 Meet.

Ray, I do have the 52/53 Ford Book and I can't tell from the picture and narrative on wheel covers if they are smooth or not, Also, I emailed you last week with this question and you have not replied to the email. Thanks

That is why I asked about the 53 trim rings. I want to buy them if they are correct.

If you have the V-8 Club roster handy call Craig Gorris in Ohio. He co-wrote the 52-53 Ford book and can give you the correct information. To my knowledge the trim rings are the smooth type with no grooves, but I temper my comment with the fact I'm no expert on the '52-'53 Fords.

Attached are two photographs from the 1953 Ford passenger car accessories booklet.

As shown on page 12, there are two different types of trim rings which were sold for use with the small "dog dish" hubcap (CPA-18303-B and CPA-18303-D).

Hope these images are helpful.

All the best to you and yours in 2022.
