hey there ford folks, i ordered upper radiator hoses for my '37 fordor yesterday from joes antiques. was wondering how much coolant to drain just for uppers and any bodies experiance with old radiator pet cocks. will there be a known problem once opened to shut off? also ordered thermostats,do they install just sitting onto engine nipple or bib?thanks in advance,Tom.

I had to drain about 2.5 gallons to lower the coolant level below the head opening on my 40 Mercury.

If you have not changed your coolant in a couple of years, it would be a good idea to drain and flush the system and put in new coolant.

The thermostats fit in the head opening for the hoses.

I have not had a problem with the petcocks, but I have been flushing my system every year.
