i have 3 distributor shafts with the 8-sided cam. marked 40B, 11A and 68. the width of the cam on the first is 1". the other 2 are 13/16" . why the difference? is one size better than the other??

The 40B is for the 33-36 distributor. 68 is for the later 36 to 40 and 11A is 41. There is a difference in the point sets from early 40B to the later 68 and carried through 1941. The rotor also changes. The shafts also have limiting windows that control the mechanical advance from the weights. The 11A windows are different and allow the advance to come in earlier and slight more about 2 degrees. The 11A weights and their springs are also different and are marked. The 11A can be used in the late 36 to 40 distributor. allowing a very slight performance improvement. This message was edited by 40 Coupe on 8-25-21 @ 4:19 AM
