I want to remove my fuel pump on my 59a 239, is it easier to remove pump and stand together which is only two easy nuts. but will it be harder to re install?? lining up pump rod. Johna

Given the choice, I always remove and replace the stand with the pump attached. Easy peasy...

Personal choice. The important thing to remember is that correct re-installation will have encountered a resistance to seating on the mount surface, an indication of the spring loaded pump arm encountering the push rod properly.

The one thing that most people overlook when they remove/install a fuel pump on a flat head is to remove the fill tube assembly from the block, check the mounting surface with a straight edge to make sure it's flat.. The pumping action to operate the fuel pump tends to push the assembly up in time, thereby reducing the push rod stroke.
The old Motor Manuals use to have a section about fuel pump R/R, showing a file and straight edge to correct the mounting surface of the fill tube.
