Topic: Valve clearance on a 59ab

Good evening everyone. I'm currently assembling my '47 vintage 59ab engine, bone stock right down to the NOS cam. Only non stock item being an electronic ignition. I can't seem to find consistent valve clearance specifications for this engine, I've read everywhere between .010 to .012 for the intake and .012 to .016 for the exhaust. Every source I've checked seems to indicate something different. Does anybody know what clearances would work best in this engine? Thanks for any advice!!

Just shoot got .015 on all of them.
If the intakes come out to be no tighter than .013” leave it alone.
If the exhaust comes out to be a couple thousandths on the loose side leave it alone.
Just make sure all of the exhaust valves are at least .015”. But .017 is okay.

Ford specs from the Shop Manual Intake .010"-012" Exhaust .014"-.016" I don't mind a little noise so I set the intake to .012" and the exhaust to .016" using a stepped feeler gauge.

agriffey- I have adjustable lifters so adjusting the clearance isn't a big deal, thanks for the info.
TomO-thanks for the advice!
