apparently no-one supplies the red fluid for the hydrostatic gauges anymore. since they were never dependable back in the day anyway , should I just foget about it and use something like marvel mystery just to fill the space?

Marvel mystery oil in your gauge is not a good solution. The fluid in the gauge has a specific gravity around 3 am MMO is around 1, so you will need 3 times the gas in the tank to get a full reading than when using the proper fluid. Tom

thanks all, I'll try them first because the gauge actually did work when I bought the car a few years ago.
