Topic: Speedo Cable Lubrication

I've looked through all the many references I have and can find no reference to how and how often to lube the speedo cable on my 48 convertible. It has begun to shake the speedo needle a bit at low speeds. Seems to me that years back I used to pull the cables from the housing and apply grease meant for this purpose to the lower portion of the cable.

Is this the correct thing to do? Is "speedo cable" grease still available?

  I like liquid graphite.
It has solved the moving speedometer pointer on my 1949 over the years. Matter of fact, I carry a can of it in the car, as you just dont know when you will need it.

Oh yes......have a rag handy as that stuff can get everywhere.

Lots of guys back in the day including myself used good old vasoline on all but the last 6-8" of the speedo head end. Worked fine back then. ken ct
