hi V8 Members I think I need a new front spring, it is 83 years old, and ride is getting rough,at least it seems so, I went though the front end, king pins, alignment, new Firestone tires, Were is the best place to buy a front spring, I know Eaton has them but $449.00 seems to me a little high ? but maybe they are worth it. ? CARPENTER does not sell them any more, they gave me EATON'S number, any feedback welcome,THANKS,,, 1937 Ragtopman

Local spring shops can be more economical. Also, a rough ride is not always caused by weak springs. Your list of repair/replacements didn't include shocks, which often freeze up over time. Alan

hi Alan I just installed NOS FORD shocks, everything is tight in front end, I had a set of DELCO LOVEJOY shocks on the front, looks like they were made to go on FORDS, maybe a accessory ? , they worked but wanted to go back to originals, many thanks for your repley. 1937 Ragtopman Ludolf Bierwas I will see if I can locate a SPRING SHOP here in MAINE

I'd suggest you locate a NOS spring. That will restore the designed height and riding characteristics of your vehicle. Re-arcing is problematic and in my opinion, not worth the efforts. An Eaton spring will fit but from my experience will not duplicate the designed features of the Ford (OEM) spring. Are the perch pins in good condition? Mike "Kube" Kubarth

You might try Fred at Southside obsolete for a spring. I'd installed NOS springs in my '36 roadster last year. It made a world of difference in the driving experience. Mike "Kube" Kubarth This message was edited by kubes40 on 5-27-20 @ 1:43 PM

Or try Michael Driskell at Third Gen Automotive in McMinnville, TN for a NOS spring.
