Interested in any comments on Mac's LED Tail Lights for Ford “1933-36 Passenger & Sedan Delivery, Stainless Steel Body, 21 Red LEDs”, left Part # 32-14660-1 & right – Right Part #: 32-14654-1, $64.99 each.

Have 1936 Ford & main interest is in brightening these lights. Do these lights just fit inside stock housing? Any issues, other recommendations.

Thanks.

Have you thought about adding a third light, like modern cars?
I have a Brake Lighter in my 1949 Sedan and it makes up for not so bright taillights. Easy to install, and since it is mounted at driver eye level, certainly gets attention. And as a safety feature does not have to be removed for judging.

Also have you tried cleaning and either painting or installing a piece of aluminum foil in the inside of your taillight housing? Those are steps I would test before spending money on new taillights.

The Brake Lighter can be found at https://www.brakelighter.com

I replaced one side with an LED. I then placed the car in the dark garage to see the difference up close when compared to the opposite side.
The difference? Well, if there was one, I could not detect it whatsoever. In my opinion, save your money.
Oh, and yes, my grounds are very clean.

Make sure your lights have a good clean ground and then paint the inside of the light with white paint..You can also adapt a reflector from a flashlight to slide over the light socket to reflect the light. These are cheap fixes that will most likely give you as much light as an LED.

I believe that those lights are 12 volt and unless you need the housings, 12 volt led bulbs are less expensive. If you need 6 volt Pos ground bulbs they are more expensive than the 12 volt bulbs.

Here is a link to a discussion on LED bulbs

I tried painting the inside of my tail light housing white, and saw little improvement, next I painted one with Chrome paint with another slight improvement, but still not bright enough to be seen clearly on the road. I then used flashlight reflectors behind the bulb and saw a big improvement with the light output. One of the members of my RG was following me at night and said that my tail lights were not working, so I investigated LED bulbs. I installed a set and they are bright enough to be seen under all conditions. I still have the flashlight reflectors behind the LED bulbs.

I bought very bright LED bulbs at

But the site doesn't list them any more, but this site does.
