Topic: 47 Ford car column lock cylinder removal

I have the key tumbler out, the chrome handle off, the detent screw and plunger out. The lock cylinder slides horizontally fine with my finger. How do I get the cylinder out of the column support. Thanks in advance for any replies.

could you send a picture? I have had my 41 lock apart, but don't know if yours is the same.

Is there a reason why you need to take it apart?

Yes I want to replace the exposed end. Mine is dull and pitted.

The end is splined. Move the sliding unit as far to the right as possible. You may be able to get a screw driver between the main body and the chrome end. then start prying all around the edge. It will eventually pop off.The other option is to put some vise grips on the end and try to wiggle it off.
