Topic: Fender braces on '36 pickup

CDemarest    -- 10-18-2019 @ 5:00 AM
I'm restoring a '36 Ford pickup and am in the process of mounting a replica bed and fiberglass fenders. I'm having difficulty locating the correct placement for the rear braces on the front fenders and the braces for the rear fenders. Can anyone give me some help and possibly some pictures of the correct location? Thank you.

Here is a picture of the front fender rear brace. This shows how it mounts to the edge of the fender and the front bottom of the cab

Note that the front fender brace end that attaches to the cab is suppose to be bent in a V. I am not sure, but I think it was made that way to be able to be attached with either V side --- sort of a if one way doesn't fit use the other side.

I have one original brace for the front fender that was on my truck when I bought it. It has the V configuration that you mention. I believe that, as you say, this is so the brace could be used interchangeably on either side of the vehicle. A number of years ago, I bought a new replica brace as a mate to the one I have. Interestingly, it doesn't have the bent V on the end but is straight across. Thanks to your pictures, I'm going to put the new brace in my vise and add a kink. Thanks again.
