I have power and ground to the dome light canister, but can't make a dash bulb fit correctly. The positive contact doesn't appear to be spring tensioned (like headlamp bulb sockets)...is there a special bulb or is my dome socket malfunctioning? Thanks!

If it's an old original there is a possibility that the spring has broken. Probably need to take it apart to check. The spring is easy to change.
